Usability testing basics
Usability is increasingly becoming a focal point for new consumer technology devices, but it's also extremely important in the medical device field and other high-risk environments. Whether or not something is "usable" - easily learned, efficient, safe - can make or break a new product, or have a long-lasting impact on a person's life. From websites to glucose meters, usability issues are everywhere, and it's helpful to be able to identify them early on.
Usability testing is a technique that's frequently used by Human Factors specialists to help identify areas in which a product can improve. In this workshop, we'll pair up and practice conducting usability tests on a variety of devices and software interfaces - from popcorn makers to Google Cardboard.
